For far too long, the alcohol industry in South Africa has been dominated by foreign monopolies that import cheap spirits and flood the local market. We believe the local craft spirit market is in a unique position to push for there transformation of the market and claim back market share over the next decade.We are a self-funded, independent craft distillery with a focus on helping brands launch a spirit into the local or global market without the need to invest in expensive distillery equipment, time, professional fees and large warehousing. By offering small batch craft distilling we allow anyone to enter the market easily and affordably.
Your Questions Answered
What do I need before we start ?
You will need a NLA (National Liquor Authority) distributors license (or other related liquor licenses for private label) to create your own craft spirit brand with us. A distributors license is a relatively quick process that takes less than 3 months to acquire. We also suggest trademarking your brand on the CIPC website.
Why are labels so expensive?
Often a label printer will charge thousands of rands on your first order for die's, luckily there is a printing partner in Cape Town that create small runs using previously used die's close to any size reducing cost of first run by up to 80%. Make sure to ask for die sizes for your designs. We also recommend having a large label run done to reduce costs.
Can I start without a license?
You can find local distributors in your area that already have a NLA distributors license that can store and sell on your behalf.That way you can sell directly to consumer online and have deliveries picked up and sent off from your distributors facility.
What about storage & shipping?
We offer 1 month (non-insured) storage included in our locked cage if needed and do not offer transport or delivery on your behalf to customers.We can however arrange freight for your batches, as they are made, directly to your distribution facility anywhere in South Africa at a very low cost.
Will we sign a contract?
Yes, we have a New Development Agreement and NDA ready to send as soon as you are ready to start discussing your brand with us. This will protect your brand and spirit recipe from being reused or stolen by any competition.
